Power Outage Update-9/16/2025

Minnkota Power will be coming to Cavalier on Monday September 22, 2025 to replace the damaged transformer. At 6:00 am there will be a power outage for half an hour for businesses and residences west of the railroad tracks (This includes Leever’s west to Ron’s Body Shop, Bjornson Dr, Bedrock Lane, Thompson’s trailer court, Airport Road, Do It Best, and Kelly Bean). There will be a crane coming in to town at 9:00 am and will be set up at the old light plant on W 2nd Ave N. They will get the transformer ready to be changed out as well as 2 poles that need to be replaced. The entire town will lose power around 9:00 pm until around 1:00 am. Please plan ahead if you have medical conditions or need medical assistance. 

Power Outage Update-9/13/2025

The Minnkota Power substation transformer that feeds power to the City of Cavalier failed due to a lighting strike. It was tested and it cannot be repaired so it will have to be replaced. They have installed a portable substation. As soon as they have a crane available they will remove and replace the transformer. Another outage will take place during this time. We do not have a specific time or date yet but will keep everyone informed as much as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
